This week marked the 25th anniversary of the translation of the Holy Relics of St. Maximus the Greek to his native Arta, in the country’s northwest.
On Oct. 12, 1997 the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, accompanied by the Vatopedi Elders Timotheos, Athanasios and Andreas, conveyed a Holy Relic of the saint to the city of Arta. The Holy Relic had first been released to the then Metropolitan of Arta in Russia, while then remaining at the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi for several months.
