Today marks the 31st anniversary of the enthronement of Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, as the Primate of the Mother Church.
His All Holiness was enthroned at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George at the Phanar, nearly two weeks after his election as the new Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch by the hierarch members of the Sacred and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in late October 1991.

Bartholomew was 51 years of age at the time of his unanimous election as the 270th Ecumenical Patriarch.

During His All Holiness’s 31-year ministry and stewardship of the Mother Church, inter-faith dialogue, communication with other Christian denominations and protection of the natural environment have been priorities.
