His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy on Sunday, 20 September, at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Sabbas in Alexandria, bringing together Orthodox hierarchs and representatives of several Orthodox Churches and the Anglican Communion.

The gathering took place during the meetings of the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue, hosted at the Patriarchal See of Alexandria.
In his address, Patriarch Theodore II emphasised the meaning of the Holy Cross as a sign of sacrifice, love, hope and Resurrection. He called for theological dialogue to move beyond discussion and become a living expression of love, service and Christian witness, particularly towards those who suffer, the poor and the forgotten.

The Patriarch also honoured the memory of the late Patriarch Parthenios III of Alexandria, recognising his legacy in promoting Christian dialogue and reconciliation.
The day concluded with fellowship at the monastery and a visit to the house of Alexandrian poet Constantine P. Cavafy, highlighting Alexandria’s enduring place as a meeting point of faith, culture, history and dialogue.
