Today marks the 110th anniversary of the eastern Aegean Island of Chios’s liberation from Ottoman rule.
A con-celebratory Vespers was officiated on Thursday at the Metropolitan Cathedral dedicated to the saints of victory, Holy Martyrs Menas, Victoras and Vikentios, and officiated by the visiting Metropolitan of Didimoticho, Orestiada and Soufli, His Eminence Damaskinos, and co-officiated by the resident Metropolitan, His Eminence Markos.
A litany of the Holy Icons followed in commemoration of the anniversary of the island’s liberation.
