The annual reception hosted by Greece’s presidency of the republic on the occasion of the Sunday of Orthodoxy, which falls on Sunday, March 13 this year, will take place as scheduled at the presidential mansion in central Athens.
The reception is annually held in honor of members of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece, although the event was cancelled last year due to public health restrictions emanating from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Additionally, a Synodal Divine Liturgy will be conducted at the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral on Sunday morning, with the Metropolitan of Sidirokastro, His Eminence Makarios, appointed by the Permanent Holy Synod to deliver a sermon.

In a related development, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church this week issued a message on the occasion of the upcoming Sunday of Orthodoxy, reminding that the day has been commemorated since 843 throughout Orthodox Christianity as an expressing of the incessant love and care of God for the Orthodox Church.
