The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, a day after his return from a historic visit to the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, where he travelled to both Lebanon and Syria at the head of a Church of Greece delegation, on Friday will receive a four-member ecclesiastical and museum delegation from the Vatican.
The meeting comes ahead of a joyous ceremony to mark the return of three marble fragments taken from the iconic Parthenon to the Acropolis Museum.
The fragments, which ended up in Vatican Museums, were personally gifted by Roman Catholic Pope Francis to His Beatitude. The repatriation ceremony was scheduled was scheduled for this afternoon at the Acropolis Museum, and in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
