All eyes are turning to Brisbane shortly, in just under five days the Greek Orthodox community of this city welcomes its beloved new shepherd and elder, Archbishop Makarios. He is a man that makes everything not about him, rather drawing the attention and minds of the faithful to Christ.
The arrival of Archbishop Makarios is monumental to the life of the Australian Holy Orthodox Church. Not only he is fluent with conversing in English for both the youth and the non-Greek speaking flock, but this is a man who is presenting a strong Christian and scientific voice to ethical challenges unfolding for Christ’s people.

Saturday 24 August:
> 3.30pm Arrival from Sydney at Qantas Terminal, Brisbane Domestic Airport
> 5pm Doxology at Greek Orthodox Parish of St Paraskevi, Taigum (With Official Parish Dinner following the Service)
Sunday 25 August:
> 8-11am Matins and Divine Liturgy at St George Greek Orthodox Church, Brisbane, Presided by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia
> 12pm Luncheon at the Greek Club in honour of His Eminence and the 60th Anniversary of our Philoptohos Sisterhood of St George (Luncheon is now fully booked)
> 6.30pm Hierarchical Vespers at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Anna, Gold Coast (With Official Parish Dinner following the Service)
Monday 26 August:
> 6.30pm Hierarchical Vespers for the Feast of St Fanourios at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Dormition of Our Lady, Mt Gravatt (With Official Parish Dinner following the Service)
Tuesday 27 August:
