The Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, officiated at the Divine Liturgy on Sunday at the Panaghia of Island Park Cathedral, in lower New York state.
Archbishop Elpidophoros will travel to Constantinople this week and arrive at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in order to convey the concern and support of the Archdiocese of America’s Philoptochos fund to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.
The national board of the Philoptochos, in response to Archbishop Elpidophoros’ call for assistance in mitigating the devastating fire damage to the Balukli Hospital and elderly care center in Constantinople, has approved a 50,000-dollar emergency disbursement.
