The new Archbishop-elect of America, His Eminence Elpidoforos, continued his official contacts in Greece this week – as he was received on Friday morning by Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Katrougalos.
Afterwards, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, received the elected head of the Archdiocese of America.
The Greek foreign minister announced that he will be present at the enthronement of the new Archbishop of America, which will take place on June 22 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City.
Official contacts between the Greek state and the new Archbishop are judged as crucial, given the long-standing issues faced by the Archdiocese of America regarding the Greek Diaspora in North America and national issues affecting Hellenism worldwide.
