The newly enthroned Archbishop of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus, His Beatitude Georgios, reminded that the Church does not forget the Turkish-occupied areas of the island republic.
His Beatitude spoke on Tuesday evening during a reception at the Archdiocese in Nicosia, immediately after the ninth synaxis, or assembly, of the ecclesiastical committees of occupied parishes and a Great con-celebratory Vespers, held on the eve of the feast day of St. Gregory the Theologian. The service was held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia.

Among others, His Beatitude noted that “…the designs of the Turks have not ceased…because they are now overtly showing their target, which is the conquest and Turkification of all Cyprus…We see our churches as vibrant; we see our villages and keep our desire alive to free our land and return there.”
