An awards ceremony for the cast of the hugely popular Greek-language television series “From Farasa to the Heavens”, which recounts the life and works of 20th century St. Paisios, was held over the weekend at the municipal center of the Athens-area Aghios Demetrios municipality.
The cast-members received a blessing from the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi, who attended the event.
The Most-Reverend Elder Archimandrite was also honored at the event for the support and sponsorship of the television series, extended through the St. Maximus the Greek Institute.
An award for the Institute was accepted by Seraphim Politis on behalf of its board members.
The St. Maximus the Greek Institute was honored for its contributions and missionary work via digital media, film and television.
An invocation towards the Three Hierarchs and Demetrios, the Myrrh-streamer & Great Martyr of Thessaloniki, was held before the ceremony, followed by the commencement of the parish’s celebratory events ahead of this month’s Oct. 26 feast day of the saint, with the Elder Ephraim’s address launching the first event.
