On the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in the city of Arusha, Tanzania, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Agathonikos of Arusha. Following the Divine Liturgy, baptisms of catechumens took place, thus sealing the missionary fruitfulness at the seat of the Holy Metropolis.
On the same day, the Divine Liturgy was also celebrated at the Church of Saint Paisios in the remote village of Masege in Central Tanzania, located approximately two hours from the Missionary Centre of Kindamali Iringa. It is a poor and inaccessible region where the Orthodox faith flourishes in the hearts of the people. With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Agathonikos of Arusha, priests from the Missionary Centre travelled to the village in order to minister to the spiritual needs of the residents.
Following the Divine Liturgy, baptisms of catechumens were performed, and immediately afterwards a warm meal was offered to all the villagers. The meal was a generous offering of the Parish Philoptochos Society of the Church of Saint George in Litochoro, Greece.
The Holy Metropolis of Arusha continues with dedication and sacrificial spirit its missionary work, leading the souls of people into the embrace of the Orthodox Church.
