The Church today venerates the memory of St. Thekla, the protomartyr of ancient Iconium, in central Asia Minor.
St. Thekla is considered by the Church as Equal-to-the-Apostles, instructed in the Faith of Christ by the Apostle Paul, subsequently devoting her life to God at a time when Christians were shunned and persecuted.
