The Church today commemorates Nahum the Prophet.
Nahum prophesied after the destruction of Samaria – 721 years before Christ – but before the 10 tribes were taken into captivity. His name means “comforter” in Hebrew. Nahum’s book of prophecy is divided into three chapters.
Today is also the feast day of Philaret, the Merciful of Amnia.
