A Cross has been erected in the courtyard of the Orthodox church in the village of Huta, near Cluj, in northwest Romania, in memory of the reposed Bishop of Deva and Hunedoara Gurie Georgiu, a native of the settlement.
The reposed prelate served as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara from its establishment in 2009 until his death from COVID-19 complications last October.
An archieratical consecration service was held on Saturday at the Church courtyard, followed by the Orthros and Divine Liturgy services. A memorial service was later held for reposed Bishop.
