The Metropolis of Atlanta’s 2025 Clergy-Laity Assembly & Philoptochos Conference concluded over the weekend, with events continuing to take place on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15.

Saturday’s activities began with a morning prayer and breakfast meetings for Archons, YAL (Young Adult League), and Philoptochos, before more workshops took place: “How to Organize a Building Program & Work with the Metropolis for Approvals,” “Grant Writing,” “Youth & Young Adult Ministries (Y2AM),” “The Church as a Gateway,” “Cybersecurity Hygiene for Everyone,” “Fundraising,” “The Lord as Beloved: Reflections on the Christian Faith Walk – Personally & Communally,” “Family Life Ministry,” “Cybersecurity Risk Management for Parish Leadership,” “Mental Health Awareness for the Parish,” “Organizing Archives for your Parish,” and “Storm Preparedness for the Metropolis of Atlanta.” The afternoon included a closing plenary session, a third general session for Philoptochos, and a harbor tour for YAL.

On Sunday, participants gathered in worship for the Orthros Service and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Charleston, South Carolina, before celebrating a Father’s Day luncheon and contributing to a Philoptochos-organized service event packing kids’ care kits.

Highlights of this year’s assembly included the joint participation of YAL, which His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos highlighted as a particular joy; the members of the Southeast Federation of Greek Orthodox Choirs and Musicians (SFGOCM), who sang during Sunday’s liturgy; and the renaming of the metropolis’s summer camp site to the Alexios Diakonia Retreat Center in honor of His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, formerly of Atlanta.
