One of the last professors to have taught at the Halki School of Theology before it was ordered closed by Turkish authorities in 1971, distinguished Prof. Vassilios Anagnostopoulos, passed away on Tuesday in Athens at the age of 99.
On Tuesday afternoon, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, following news of the professor’s passing, officiated at a trisagion memorial service for the repose of his soul at the Patriarchal Chapel of St. Andrew.
An exodios funeral service for the venerable teacher and academic will be held on Thursday at the Cathedral of the Panaghia Faneromeni, the Virgin Mary, at the Vouliagmeni district in extreme southeast Athens.
