A Doxology service was celebrated on Thursday, April 1, at the cathedral of St. Paraskevi in the south-central city of Livadia, officiated by the Metropolitan of Thebes & Livadia, His Eminence Georgios, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the liberation of the town from Ottoman rule.
A Trisagion memorial service was held afterwards, along with the laying of wreaths at the statue of War of Independence martyr Athanasios Diakos, which is located in the cathedral’s courtyard.
“May the prayers of the martyrs and heroes of 1821 held in our deliverance from the modern-day scourge of the coronavirus,” His Eminence Georgios underlined.
