Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens present at the Proclamation of Evangelos Venizelos as Honorary Doctor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

In the presence of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, the ceremony was held for the proclamation of the former Vice President of the Greek Government and Emeritus Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, as Honorary Doctor of the Law School and of the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies of the Faculty of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The ceremony took place in the Great Hall of the University of Athens, in the presence of representatives of the political, ecclesiastical, academic, and social life of the country, as well as figures from the fields of culture and public administration. Archbishop Ieronymos was accompanied by the General Hierarchical Commissioner of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, Protopresbyter Fr Emmanuel Papamikroulis.

Following the address by the Rector of the University, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, the work and personality of the honouree were presented by Professor Spyridon Vlachopoulos and Professor Kirki Kefalea.

This was followed by the reading of the official texts of the proclamation and the awarding of the honorary distinctions to Mr Venizelos.

Subsequently, Mr. Evangelos Venizelos delivered his lecture entitled: “Artificial Intelligence as a challenge for sovereignty, constitutionalism, and political theology.”
