The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, continued his Holy Week pastoral visit to the northeast Aegean Island of Imvros, his native homeland.
On the afternoon of Holy Tuesday, His Holiness officiated at the Holy Procession of the Bridegroom, performed at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin, in the picturesque village of Glyky.
After the liturgy, the Shephard of the Mother Church performed a Trisagion memorial service for the repose of the souls of the blessed Nikiforos Glykas, Metropolitan of Imbros, and Bartholomew Koutloumousianos, a scholarly Hieromonk.
His Holiness, who bears the latter’s name, mentioned, cited this great illuminator of the island and teacher of the Greek nation, and then, visibly moved, described his feelings every time he visits Imvros.
