The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Wednesday received a delegation of members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of Archdiocese of America, led by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros.
The hierarchs of the Greek Orthodox Church of America arrived at the Phanar district See in response an invitation by His All-Holiness, with whom they held a lengthy work meeting on the issue of revising the charter of the Sacred Archdiocese of America.
The meeting was also attended by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, who chairs the mixed charter revision commission, along with His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain.
During the meeting, which was carried out in an atmosphere of unity, sincerity and mutual appreciation, those present freely discussed their opinions and positions regarding the recommendations of the Archbishop of America.
In summarizing the outcome of the sessions, the Ecumenical Patriarch underlined the importance of demonstrating confidence in the appropriate agencies of the Church, in order to adopt the most beneficial decisions for the Christ-loving plenitude of this sacred Eparchy of the venerable Ecumenical Throne.
