The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, this week received the mayor of the historic Souli municipality, Ioannis Karagiannis. The municipality is located in mountainous northwest Greece.
The focus of discussions centered on the prospect of a return of all the Holy Relics of St. Donatus, Bishop and Confessor of the faith, from a cathedral in Venice to the dedicated church in the Greek town of Paramythia.
His All Holiness assured the mayor that he will commence all necessary actions and contacts with the Roman Catholic Church in order to promote the request.
