The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, referred to the role of religious faith in creating a sustainable world and social cohesion, speaking at the 50th World Economic Forum this week in Davos, Switzerland. His All Holiness, in an address, also referred to the value of dialogue as a primary means towards this end, while sharply condemning any form of violence and religious intolerance.

The Ecumenical Patriarch bemoaned the tragedy, as he said, of many people in the modern era identifying religion with terrorism, war and intolerance.

Bartholomew I arrived in the Swiss canton earlier this week, having already participated in several panel discussions and forums.

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople was among a handful of international personalities that participated in a round-table discussion on climate change, using the venue to detail the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s initiatives over the past three decades to sensitize the global community over the need to protect the natural environment, and thereby safeguard God’s creation.
