With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, eight individuals were joyfully received into the Greek Orthodox Church through the Holy Sacrament of Baptism on Saturday, 26 July—The Feast Day of Saint Paraskevi. The sacred service took place at the Church of the Annunciation in West Perth and was presided over by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth.

The newly baptised had spent many months preparing for this significant spiritual journey, receiving catechism and instruction under the guidance of the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, the Very Rev. Emmanuel Stamatiou.

In his homily, His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed the paternal love and heartfelt blessings of Archbishop Makarios to all the newly illumined. He also outlined the meaning and symbolism behind the Baptism service, emphasising the spiritual rebirth that takes place through the grace of the Holy Spirit.

It is a great joy for our local Church to witness so many people seeking Christ and embracing the Orthodox Christian faith. Their presence and commitment are a source of strength and inspiration for us all.

We warmly welcome the following individuals who were baptised and received the following names: Porphyrios, Ekaterina, Ioanna, Dismas, Anastasia, Evangeline, Alana, and Isaiah.

May our Lord grant them many blessed years as members of His Holy Church!
