Church bells rang out joyously on Friday in a corner of the large island of Crete with the announcement, by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, of the canonization of reposed Elder Evgenios Saridakis.
Emotions ran high in the Irakleio prefecture village of Ethi-A, located at an altitude of 740 meters, where the Mother Church’s latest saint was born in 1931.
The Elder Evgenios, who reposed in the Lord in 1999, is known as the “hidden saint of our era.
