Faithful from around Greece and abroad continued to head to the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Demetrios in Thessaloniki, on the eve of the feast day of the Holy Great-Martyr Demetrios the Myrrh-Streamer.
A Divine Liturgy was conducted on Tuesday, along with the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, officiated by the Metropolitan of Sidirokastro, His Eminence Makarios.
A litany followed around the cathedral and through central Thessaloniki of the Holy Relic and Icon of St. Demetrios, the city’s patron saint.
Further to the south, in Athens, thousands of faithful continued to arrive at the St. Demetrios Cathedral, in the Ampelokipi district, where the historic and invaluable Holy Icon of the Panaghia Soumela, the Mother of Pontus, remains for veneration until Friday.
Pemptousia television has reported extensively from the cathedral, speaking with faithful and pilgrims.
