The Church today venerates the memory of Alexis, the Man of God. This saint’s Holy Relics were bestowed to the historic Aghia Lavra Monastery of Kalavryta (northwest mountainous Peloponnese) in 1398 by the Byzantine Emperor Emmanuel Paleologos. The relics were preserved from destruction by two monks when the monastery was torched by the Ottoman Turks in 1585.
Today is also the feast day of Patrick, the Enlightener of Ireland.
