Feast day of Righteous John Cassian, the Confessor

The Church today venerates the memory of Righteous John Cassian, the Confessor. Today is also the feast day of Basil the Confessor, who along with St. Procopius, a fellow ascetic, suffered many torments for the sake of the veneration of the holy icons.
