The Church today venerates the memory of St. Pelagia of Tinos, who discovered the miracle-working but lost Our Lady of Tinos icon in 1822, on the eponymous Cyclades island months before the Greek Revolution erupted in 1821.
The icon is conveyed from the iconic Our Lady of Tinos Cathedral, in the island’s capital, only on the Feast Day of the saint, and is venerated at the Holy Convent of Kehrovouni, also on the island, where the humble nun St. Pelagia received visions of the Virgin Mary.
A doxology service will take place in the evening at the monastery.
A relevant video is posted today on the Orthodoxia news agency.
