On Sunday, 7th December 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain presided during Matins and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St Ambrose and St Stylianos in Milton Keynes. Concelebrating with His Eminence were the Revd Oikonomos Gregory Wellington, Priest-in-Charge, and the Revd Presbyter Michail Norok from Thessaloniki. The Revd Archdeacon Dr George Tsourous also served.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence elevated the Revd Oikonomos Gregory Wellington to the rank of Archimandrite, a moment of great joy for the parish. The Archbishop spoke warmly about Father Gregory’s dedication, pastoral care, and service to the local community.

His Eminence also ordained Mr Athanasios Dedeoglou as Reader, recognising his faithful assistance within the Holy Sanctuary and his commitment to the parish. The community offered heartfelt congratulations and prayers for his continued growth in service to the Church.

Among those present were the regular congregation of the parish, psaltes, friends and supporters from London and neighbouring areas, as well as Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate: Mr Pantelis Demosthenous, Mr Marios Minaidis, and Mr Alexandros Lingas. Representatives from nearby communities, including Mr Savvas Nicola, President of St Neophytos in Northampton, attended alongside clergy guests and numerous parish friends.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive reception was offered in the parish hall. The Community greeted His Eminence with words of welcome and expressed their gratitude for his presence, noting that in the Archbishop they recognise the loving care of the Mother Church. The parish school presented a short programme in honour of the Archbishop and in celebration of Archimandrite Gregory’s elevation, also offering him and His Eminence a newly created school emblem to mark the occasion.

His Eminence addressed the faithful with words of encouragement and thanksgiving, assuring the community of his prayers as they continue their witness in Milton Keynes.
