The documentary “Elder Joseph the Hesychast” has won four awards at the London Greek Film Festival (LGFF), which is taking place this spring in an online format due to the coronavirus restrictions.
A jury of critics bestowed the “Best Creative Documentary” to the production, which brings the life and works of the recently canonized Athonite aesthetic and monastic elder to the international forefront.
The “Best Actor” award went to Emmy Award-winning actor Jonathan Jackson, for his role as St. Joseph the Hesychast. Jackson, who has been baptized to the Christian Orthodox faith, is also a noted author and musician.
A special mention by LGFF is given for the monks of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos, for their editing, direction and participation.
Additionally, an Honorary Award was bestowed to the Vatopedi monks for their spiritual and social contributions throughout the world.
