Former Mount Athos civil governor Stavros Psyharis passed away on Tuesday at the age of 77.
Psyharis was a well-known journalist, editor and publisher in Greece for decades. He was honored by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in June 2010 for his contributions to the semi-autonomous monastic community in northern Greece during his tenure as its civil governor.
An exodios funeral service will be held on Thursday at the first Athens cemetery.
