Education Minister Kostas Gavroglu on Tuesday referred to what he called a “common consensus” to “rationalize” relations between Church and state. He also mentioned what he called the safeguarding of boundaries between the two and a “tidying up” of finances.
Asked about his recent inflammatory statement referring to “blackmail” on the part of clergymen, the Greek minister said he could not find another word to describe the reaction by the association representing Orthodox clerics in the country, while also claiming that the specific association does not represent the Church of Greece.
