Germany’s Minister of State for Europe, Michael Roth, completed a very symbolic and emotion visit on Wednesday at a shooting range in the east Athens district of Kesariani, the site where on May 1, 1944 Nazi occupation forces executed 200 political inmates.
The Kesariani shooting range was used by the Axis forces as a place of execution between 1942 and 1944.
During a solemn and brief ceremony, Roth laid a flower at a monument for the victims. He was later given a tour of the site by the municipality’s mayor.
