The great feast day of the Dormition of the Theotokos was celebrated with centuries-old Athonite rite on Sunday, Aug. 28, by the venerable monasteries on Mount Athos, as based on the Julian calendar.
The visiting Bishop of Bukoba and Western Tanzania, His Grace Chrysostomos, officiated at the holy services and Divine Liturgy at the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, and co-officiated by Vatopedi Elders.
Afterwards, a festal meal was offered in the monastery’s dining hall, where the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of Vatopedi, and His Grace Chrysostomos, spoke with reverence about the great feast day and the All-Holy Theotokos.
