Hundreds of worshippers from the greater New York City area gathered on Sunday for the annual Great procession of the miraculous icon of St. Irene Chrysovalantou – in the Astoria district in the borough of Queens – which was held after the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Sacred Patriarchal and Stavropegial Orthodox Monastery of St. Irene Chrysovalantou, where Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, presided.
In a related development, the memory of the Venerable Irene Chrysovolantou of Cappadocia was also commemorated Australia, and specifically at the Holy Monastery of the True Cross, in Mangrove Mountain, where Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, presided at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.
