Greek Minister of National Defence Mr Nikos Dendias is undertaking an official visit from Tuesday, 14 July, until Friday, 17 July, to Qatar and Australia.
During his stay in Australia, he will visit the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney, where he will meet His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
According to an announcement issued by the Greek Ministry of National Defence, Mr Dendias will today be received at Lusail Palace in Doha by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to convey his condolences on the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Following his visit to Qatar, the Minister will travel to Australia, where he will meet with representatives of research institutions and companies that are internationally recognised as leaders in the fields of robotics, innovation, and emerging defence technologies. He will also hold meetings with Australian officials, members of the Greek diaspora, and representatives of academic institutions.
As part of his visit, Mr Dendias will attend a Doxology Service on Thursday, 16 July, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney, at which His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia will preside. Following the service, the Minister will have a private meeting with the Archbishop at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
Later that day, the Greek Minister of National Defence will participate in a discussion on “Security in the Southeastern Mediterranean” at Business Sydney.
On Friday, 17 July, Mr Dendias will visit the facilities of Australian defence technology companies.
