Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias on Wednesday began a two-day visit to the semi-autonomous monastic community of Mount Athos, located on a peninsula in the country’s north.
Dendias was first welcomed by representatives of the Holy Community at the Cathedral of the Protatos, where a Doxology service was held. He later participated in an extraordinary session of the Holy Community’s rotating administration.
The Greek foreign minister is scheduled to visit the Holy Monasteries of Pantokratoros, Xenofontos, Dionysiou and Docheiariou.
