Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis wrapped up his official visit to the United States on Tuesday by attending a dinner, given in his honor, by representatives of Greek-American advocacy groups. The Greek premier re-affirmed efforts of his government to transform the east Mediterranean country into a thoroughly modern state, as he said.
During his comments, Mitsotakis emphasized the fact that the country managed to reverse a so-called “brain drain” by luring back young professionals who emigrated during the financial crisis over the past decade.
The dinner was attended by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Menendez, and the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros.
The event capped off a day that witnessed the Greek leader delivering a historic address before a joint session of the US Congress, and a day after his meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
