Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself this week indirectly responded to criticism by main opposition SYRIZA over the center-right government’s intent to allocate a 2-million-euro grant to the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School Of Theology in the Boston area.
Speaking at an American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce event on Monday evening, Mitsotakis cited his recent meetings with Greek-Americans in the United States and a recently enacted law allowing eligible Greek citizens to vote from their place of residence abroad, while adding that the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States plays a very crucial role in the life of Greek-Americans and in Greek-US relations.
