Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Sunday attended ceremonies on the eastern Aegean Island of Symi, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the surrender of German occupation forces on the Dodecanese islands. The document of surrender was signed in Symi on May 8, 1945.
In the afternoon, Sakellaropoulou conducted a pilgrimage visit to the historic Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael in Panormitis, where she was welcomed by the Metropolitan of Symi, His Eminence Chrysostomos and local office-holders.
