The government of Cyprus has approved renovation works for the historic Faneromeni school in the center of the capital of Nicosia. The plan is to transform the school into the architecture faculty of the University of Cyprus.
The historic Faneromeni school, located in the old quarter, will be ready to host the architecture faculty in 2026, according to reports from the island republic.
The 6.9 million euros needed for renovation will be allocated by the state and the EU recovery and resilience fund, with the project included in the strategic plan for a rejuvenation of Nicosia’s old quarter.
Additionally, Cyprus’ finance ministry will pay a 1.1-million-euro down payment to the Archdiocese of Cyprus as part as a long-term lease of the property.
