Historic visit by Serbian PM to Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo, place of repose of St. Sava

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic visited the church of the Holy 40 Martyrs of Sebaste, in the historic north-central Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo, the place of repose of St. Sava the Enlightener, the first Archbishop of the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church.

He was accompanied by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

In a statement, the Serbian president said “…“I am very proud and sincerely happy that Prime Minister Borisov arranged it for me to visit …this sacred place, where I see how our Bulgarian brothers keep memory of St. Sava. For us, this is not only a proof of friendship and brotherly love, but proof of their commitment to an improvement of our mutual relations as well.”
