With ecclesiastical splendour and Paschal joy, The Sunday of Thomas was celebrated at the Church of Saint Eleftherios in Brunswick, Melbourne, of the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria. On this occasion, the memory of the 179 Holy New Martyrs of the Holy Monastery of Pantokrator in Penteli, Greece, whose sacred relics are preserved in the church, was also honoured.
On Saturday, 18 April, the Great Vespers was celebrated, and on Sunday, 19 April, Matins and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy were served, presided over by His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora.
During the sacred services, His Grace conveyed to the congregation the paternal wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
In place of a sermon, in accordance with the Church’s practice for Thomas Sunday, the Patriarchal Paschal Encyclical, traditionally read on this day, was proclaimed by His Grace, conveying the Resurrection message of the Mother Church to the faithful.
