New icons depicting two Chinese neo-martyrs, Sts. Metrophanes of Beijing and St. Ioann, were placed at the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas, in the Archdiocese of Blagoveshchensk, by Archbishop Lucian.
More than 1,000 Orthodox Christians were arrested and tortured during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, with 222 becoming the first Chinese Christian martyrs.
