Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, over the weekend visited the Metropolis of Mantinia and Kynouria, in southern Greece.

The Primate of the Church of Greece was welcomed at the bishopric of Tripoli, the capital of Arcadia prefecture, by the Metropolitan of Mantinia, His Eminence Alexandros.

Ieronymos later visited and prayed at the cliff-side 12-century Monastery of Loukous , also known as the Metamorphosis of the Sotiros Monastery, which is located next to the historic village of Astros, in the municipality of North Kynouria.

The Archbishop of Greece afterwards blessed the fruits and products produced in the monastery’s estates.

In a related development, a visit by Archbishop Ieronymos to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on Tuesday is expected with heightened interest.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, will receive Ieronymos, on the occasion of the Feast Day of Bartholomew the Apostle.

Based on an official itinerary announced this week, the Ecumenical Patriarch will preside at the celebratory Vesper Service for the Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas at the Stavropegac Monastery of Valoukli.

A reception will follow in the Monastery’s courtyard, where His All Holiness will received well-wishers from the clergy and lay people, on the occasion of his name day.

On Tuesday morning, the Ecumenical Patriarch will preside at the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of St. George, in the presence of Archbishop of Athens and All Greece.
