Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, over the weekend convened the first ever monastic assembly in the United States. The assembly aimed to promote the value and importance of monasticism in the Orthodox Christian tradition as well as the spiritual life of the faithful.
The abbots and abbesses of 18 monasteries attended the assembly, which took place at the Holy Monastery of St. Nektarios in Roscoe, NY.
His All-Holiness Bartholomew addressed participants via a video message, while His Eminence Elpidophoros delivered the keynote address.
