Your Beatitude, Archbishop of Athens and all Greece and President of the Holy Synod of the Most Holy Church of Greece, very beloved brother in Christ and concelebrant of Our Mediocrity, Ieronymos,
Embracing in the Lord Your much-revered Beatitude with brotherly affection, We address You with great joy.
Having been informed of the recent slight ailment of Your much-beloved Beatitude, on account of which You were admitted for precautionary reasons to the General Hospital of Athens “Georgios Gennimatas”, We hasten to express Our heartfelt wishes for Your swift recovery and return to the weighty and sacred task of steering the Most Holy Church of our dearly beloved homeland of Greece.
This present trial, together with Your humble and patient witness of faith and hope in God, reminds Us of the word of the divine Paul, that “My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9), and that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil. 4:13). Your patience manifests the spirit of the true Chief Shepherd, who in every circumstance glorifieth the Name of God and bringeth comfort to his brethren in the hope of salvation.
Therefore, offering Our prayers before the Most Holy and Life-giving Tomb, We beseech our Lord Jesus Christ, “the God of all comfort” (2 Cor. 1:3), to grant unto You abundant health, length of days, and unfailing spiritual strength for the continuation of Your sacred and national ministry.
