Local mayors express support for prospect of Metropolis of Aetolias & Akarnanias to be divided into two

Four local mayors in the prefecture of Aetoloakarnania have addressed a letter to Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis requesting that the current Metropolis of Aetolias and Akarnanias be divided into two separate Metropolises, as per a decision by the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece.
The mayors of Agrinio, Nafpaktos, Amphilochias and Thermos express their absolute support for such a prospect, in a bid to deal with issues such as the large geographical expanse of the current single ecclesiastical jurisdiction.
