The new Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, chose the Feast Day of the Transfiguration of Christ, celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 6, to address his first official message to all Greek Orthodox Christians in the vast country.
His Eminence called on the Greeks of Australia to remain united and to work together to keep the Greek language and customs alive, while he said he was deeply moved from the very warm welcome he has received while touring various Orthodox communities around the island continent.
